Recent Achievements & Highlights

  1. Shouvick Mondal received the ANRF - Prime Minister Early Career Research Grant (INR 50 Lakhs) for a three-year project titled "Testing of Pre-trained Large Language Models for Zero-shot Software Engineering Tasks". The Dataset titled "Minecraft" from Shouvick Mondal's Software Engineering and Testing (SET) group has been included as a multilingual program repair benchmark on program-repair.org - a community-driven effort for automated program repair research.
  2. Dhara Thakkar, PhD student in Computer Science and Engineering, was designated as a Rising Star in the TCS4All workshop at ACM STOC 2024.
  3. Nipun Batra, Neeldhara Misra, and Abhishek Bichhawat were awarded the Google exploreCSR Award 2024.
  4. Abhishek Bichhawat won the Google India Research Award in 2024.
  5. Nipun Batra was awarded the 2025 ACM SIGEnergy Rising Star Award for contributions to reproducible toolkits, scalable models, and uncertainty-aware approaches for practical energy disaggregation. The annual SIGEnergy Rising Star Award recognizes a young researcher who has made outstanding research contributions to the field of energy systems and informatics, within nine years of receiving her/his highest university degree.
  6. Yogesh Meena has been honoured with the Distinguished Alumnus Award by ABV-IIITM Gwalior for his excellence in the field of academia. This prestigious award is presented to the most noteworthy alumni who have made significant contributions and impact in various spheres of life.
  7. Anirban Dasgupta won the 2024 ACM STOC 10-year Test of Time Award for his paper on “Sparse Johnson Lindenstrauss Transform”.
  8. Development of the Hindi Language Model ‘Ganga’ at IIT Gandhinagar. This is the first model created from scratch by any research lab in India.
  9. Our four students (Prathmesh Shanbhag (AI MTech), Gautham Bharati (AI MTech), Palak Gupta (AI MTech), and Hussain Malwat (Dual Majors EE and CSE)) have been awarded prestigious IndiaAI fellowships. Himanshu Beniwal and Shruti Singh have been awarded prestigious Fulbright-Nehru Doctoral Research Fellowships.
  10. Setting up of a GPU cluster, Singularity, using funding from FIST and from IIT Gandhinagar.
  11. CSE, IIT Gandhinagar hosted FSTTCS (Foundations of Software Technology and Theoretical Computer Science), the biggest CS theory conference in India in December 2024.
  12. ACM COMPUTE is an annual Indian conference supported by ACM India and iSIGCSE. The focus of COMPUTE is to improve the quality of computing education in the country by providing a platform for academicians and researchers to interact and share best practices in teaching, learning, and education in general. COMPUTE 2024 was the seventh edition in the series and was held during Dec 5-7, 2024 at IIT Gandhinagar.
